Beyond Change Management

Change vs. Transition

There is a significant distinction between change and transition. Change management deals with what we do to manage change that happens around us – writing a new business plan, developing a new career plan, updating a resume, taking training to update certain skills, moving into new premises, etc.

Transition management refers to the people side of the change process; it has to do with our ability of letting go of the “old ways of doing things”, self-managing through the confusing time between the old and the new, and ensuring that we experience a successful “beginning”.
