Beyond Change Management

Change vs. Transition

There is a significant distinction between change and transition. Change management deals with numerous initiatives undertaken by the organization in order to support a given strategy – implementation of new technologies, acquiring a company, launching new services, introducing new processes, systems, etc.

Transition management refers to the people side of the change process; it has to do with the organization’s willingness to assist its workforce in letting go of the “old ways of doing things”, to help them through the confusing time between the old and the new, and to ensure that they experience a successful “beginning”.
